DRAGON FIRE
Dragon Fire
Dragonfire is a longform children's poem about Two Dragons and the creation of the Aurora, and the capture of the moon and the development of life in a world a lot like ours. Like much of my work it is built around the idea of people living happily together and caring about others and all the other life on our planet.. At this point it is not yet published but will appear soon.
This is the first chapter.
Well….
Once upon a timeless time
When things were just begun
A zillion fires filled the black
the stars of space
and one, in fact
Had certain things some others lacked
and that one was
the Sun
From just inside the Milkey-way
it wandered through it’s cosmic day
While sisters danced in starry play
It burned and shone and hummed
And then from deep inside the sun
a lump of light was burst and hurled
and flew and spun
and cooled and hung
and called itself the Whirled.
And slow the Whirled grew lush and green
and signs of other life appeared
cause plants need beasts and beasts need plants
and the air needs trees and the soil needs ants
and the bees need flowers and the flowers need you
So a people arose, a good people arose
your people arose
to be, and see, and do
They cared about each other
and counted on themselves
and each had life
and time
and eyes
and some climbed trees
and some made pies
while wizards probed the darkling skies
for signs to make them even wiser
Whens
and Wheres
and Whys
And one day in this wondrous land
a wizard floated by
and said there’ll be a gift for you
just look ye to the sky
And so they waited through the day
to see the signs unfold
and watched as lightning filled the night with Violet and Gold
And on the highest mountaintop
bright black against that light
They saw the shapes of two great eggs arriven in the night
ORGANS &
ORGANISMS
Organs and Organisms:
An Explanation of Everything
This is Organs and Organisms which I wrote in 1971. It looks like a children's book and is for Young adults, younger very smart kids, and anyone who wants to help someone understand the interconnectedness of all life on the planet and why it is important for us to recognize that.
